BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING

From the official White House website:
There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov.

I cannot believe that this is happening in and to my country. The president is asking us to "turn in" others who dare to disagree with him and his socialist/marxist policies. What about the Constitutional right of freedom of speech? What about our right AND our obligation to stand up and disagree with policies that we see as harmful to our country? Dear lord, this man and his actions become more repressive by the minute. I am beginning to become really concerned where this is going to lead. Our useless Congressmen follow him like bleating sheep, not even realizing that his actions are usurping their power as it destroys our rights. The government claims that those of us who disagree are being organized, sponsored and funded by the Republican party and are only the radical fringe, and the press simply closes their eyes and prints whatever dribble is fed to them. I HAVE protested, and no one organized me, paid me or sponsored me or anyone else that I know. Our only stimulus was our love of country and fear for its destruction. (Of course when ACORN is bussed to some site to protest, or SEIU busses people to Conn. to protest businessmen being paid bonuses legally owed them by contract, that is the "real" people talking!!!) I don't know where this is leading, but my gut says it is not going to be a pretty or pleasant place.

You have got to be kidding me.

What else do you expect from a group of people that see protestors burning flags and pictures of the president Bush as peaceful protesters, but citizens waiving flags demanding that our elected officials actually read a peice of legislation as an angry mob.

You anti-Americans are being watched every second. Dis-information mongers and pro-liferators will be dealt with very harshly. I've suggested that these anti-healthcare agitators be catalogued with their statements opposing healthcare used as legal affidavits to deny them medical services. Want to lose your insurance and your doctor? You will soon. What's good for the goose is good for the gander. Deny basic human rights to others and your rights will be reduced to match theirs. Get wise or suffer real consequences for your bigotted views.

Dear anonymous:
Thanks for the input, even if you feel that you have to threaten to make a point. I find it ironic that I am anti-American because I dare to speak my mind, and that you seem to think it is ok in the US of A for citizens to be "watched closely". Sure doesn't sound like the country that many have died to protect from tyrants, does it?
Just as an aside, who decided that health care is a "right"? If it is a right, how about food? Shouldn't we all get food for free? How abot clothing? Shouldn't we get clothing for free since it is a right? What about a house, a car, a job? Where do these supposed rights end anyway? And how dare you decide that I am denying anything to anybody? Because I want our government to follow the Constitution and not simply take over more and more from its citizens does not make me a bigot. It makes me a believer in the greatest form of government that this world has ever seen, a government limited in its powers. And as to losing my insurance and my doctor, I'm quite sure that will happen, not because of my views, but because the government will push us all into its own brand of "medical care". See the cartoon posted today as a reminder of what a great job government is doing via the Bureau of Indian Affairs.

Please, spare your couple of readers the sob story. The oppression or threat of it is self-inflicted. I'm not doing it. Your paranoia is to blame. I'm just laughing at it. You're about fifty years behind the times. Reality has left you in the dust.

Dear Anonymous,
In order for a reasonable discussion to occur, there has to be some common thread upon which to build. Apparently you and I have no such common thread. You seem to feel that the gov't has a right to impose itself on the citizens and I disagree with that completely. You feel that telling me that I will "be dealt with harshly" is not a threat but my paranoia. I see it as a very open and overt threat. You say I am 50 years behind the times and I say that you are completely correct. See my profile....I admit I may have been born in the wrong century!!! Look, our country has become the greatest country the world has ever seen...we have had more freedom in this country than anywhere else in history. We have given more to more people than anyone else ever has, both as private citizens and as a country. And I see the reason for that greatness in the foundation upon which the country was founded, a country in which government control was severely limited, where the citizens were free to pursue life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. And now I see a government filled with power-hungry people who seem to think that they know better than those that they are supposed to be representing about what is good for those peasants, er constituents, and carefully exclude themselves from the draconian measures that they impose on the rest of us. If this makes me an over-the-hill antique, so be it. But don't laugh at me too hard, because history seems to show that if we go down the path that we are now following, all of us (including you) are going to pay a terrible price.
